The Medina County Farm Bureau Scholarship was created to provide financial assistance for those citizens of Medina County who desire to further their education beyond high school level in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Farm Economics, Animal Husbandry, Soil & Water Conservation or Forestry.

Applications from students of member families who are pursuing other fields of study will be considered also, but priority will be given to the listed fields.  One Scholarship of $2,000.00; one scholarship of $1,500.00; three scholarships of $1,000.00 each; and two scholarships of $500 each will be awarded to students who meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a resident of Medina County or a Medina County Farm Bureau member/dependent at the time of application.
  2. Have graduated from an accredited high school or be in their senior year.
  3. Plan to further their education in one of the fields listed above..

Any person who meets the above requirements and desires to apply for the scholarship must:

  1. Submit the enclosed application form by April 1st.
  2. Be willing, if requested, to meet with the selection committee for a personal interview.

Applicants will be considered on the following:

  1. Scholastic ability
  2. Citizenship and character
  3. Involvement with agriculture

The selection of the recipient will be determined as follows:

  1. A selection committee made up of Medina County Farm Bureau leaders and/or other community leaders will review the applications.
  2. The committee will screen all applicants and submit recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
  3. The board will select the persons that shall be granted the scholarships. The selection of the Board will be final.
  4. Applicants who have previously received Medina County Farm Bureau scholarships may reapply for additional scholarships for a maximum of three more years.
  5. The scholarships shall be distributed at the discretion of the Board. Payment of the scholarships will be made directly to the school the first year; however, no payment shall be made until after the first semester or quarter of classes.  Then if re-applied directly to the student or school thereafter.

The above rules and regulations are designed to create a fair and efficient scholarship program.  No person shall be excluded from applying for the scholarship because of age, sex, race, creed, religion or politics.
